10 Basics On Toto Asia You Didn’t Learn In School

The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas, and was doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. The company believed that North America as a growth market for Washlet bidet seats and toilets, in contrast to its “base” markets of Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto was recording Toto words to ensure that the next generation could comprehend the words. However, many of the words were being replaced by foreign ones, like dui, which is Bengali for verandah.

Origins

Established in 1917, Toto’s early years were a mirror of Japan’s economic development. In the beginning, Toto made products to meet the growing demand for modern, brand new urban housing. It was the first tunnel kiln in the nation that could produce ceramics continuously. It also pioneered the use of automation for production control, allowing greater efficiency and consistency.

In the latter half of the 1980s, the company began to expand overseas in order to take advantage of sales and new markets. The company founded the Cera Trading Company to import and sell other manufacturers’ products to complement its own range of sanitary earthenwares and plumbing fittings. This strategy helped increase sales and expand the market share of the company globally.

In the 1990s Toto began to concentrate on research and development for water-related appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better serve its customers and improve profit. The company also employed the just-in time approach in its supply chain management as well as sales program. This resulted in a greater degree of customer satisfaction.

Toto has been able to continue to innovate in the toilet technology. The latest toilet from the company features a strong, eco-friendly tornado flush. Toto also makes use of recycled water in its manufacturing process and has a green procurement policy. Toto also manufactures faucets, bathtubs and hand dryers with greater energy efficiency than typical models.

The first Toto museum opened in 2015. It has exhibitions on Toto’s most famous products, their evolution, the group companies (all of which are made from ceramics), the history of plumbing, and products such as bath units. In another gallery, visitors can view Toto products that are sold throughout. The museum houses a bathroom with a washbasin and other toilet innovations.

Before the formation of Toto the members of the group performed sessions for a variety of musicians. Keyboardist David Paich, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather all played on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs. They also performed on albums by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

You might expect a band with a name such as Asia to be a prog rock group, but it is actually a pretty straightforward rock outfit. The group began as a group and recorded two albums: 1979’s self-titled debut album, and 1980’s Armed to the Teeth. The group has a diverse musical background, but their greatest success came in 1982 when they released Toto IV.

The album was a huge blockbuster, but not without its share of issues. Record companies put the band on position with the order “give us an album that’s a smash or we’ll drop you” and the pressure was on to deliver. Toto was able achieve this feat with the help of the hit song “Africa.”

Toto’s musical mastery is a result of their prior experience. Before joining the group, the band members were session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their sonic trademark has become the standard of ’80s music, influencing many contemporary artists.

The album begins hard with tracks like Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band’s ability to write fantastic AOR Totopia KR songs that slowly sink into your head. The album also has some more mellow, jazzy tracks such as The Little Things and Chinatown. The album ends with Great Expectations. This song blends folk and distorted AOR that could sound completely wrong but actually works very well.

After Toto IV, the band’s fortunes started to plummet. David Hungate left the band to pursue a solo career and the band was dominated by drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band after drug charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.

Toto released Isolation despite the turbulence. It was not as well-liked as IV. However, the band still was able to release a chart-topping album in 1992 with Kingdom of Desire. This album marked the conclusion of the original Toto lineup and was also the first to feature the new singer, Simon Phillips.

The band has a huge collection of songs, and their catalog has been listened to more than one billion times on streaming services around the globe. The band’s music has been influential to many generations of fans.

Steve Lukather has forged a vibrant, intimate friendship with Joe Williams that is flourishing professionally around the world. In 2018 the duo celebrated 40 Tours Around the Sun with a hugely successful global tour. The album with the same name reached #5 on Billboard 200. The band’s latest tour includes their greatest hits, rarely performed live deep-cuts, and some songs that come from Lukather’s and Williams’ individual catalogues.

Line-up

The album’s third, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet format of the previous albums. It was a stronger, more constant effort with a harder edge than Hydra. The more edgy sound of the album was a reflection of the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball’s increased virtuosity on drums, and an improved, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. David Paich’s work was sharper, more intricate, and less derivative than on previous recordings.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live concert in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a new studio album a few months later and embarked on a world tour to support the album. During this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started searching through old demo tapes and tapes to make an album that would feature songs that had never been recorded before. The album was released in 2001 and released as a double album titled Then and Now. It was the band’s first album without one single track titled “A”. The album also contained a previously unreleased track titled “Kari-Anne”.

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The group’s fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure, and singer Williams was suffering from a severe laryngitis infection that limited his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar’s drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes along with the other members of Asia–Wetton, Palmer, and Howe–convened an event in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility of reforming the group. This lineup, with the exception of Howe (who was busy with Yes at the time) was later referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also had a special guest appearance from singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
